FAQs

How do I get started?

Please click here to arrange for a free initial phone consultation.  During the consultation we will discuss your concerns, and concrete suggestions will be provided for the best approach to your unique situation.

What ages do you treat?

We see children and adolescents currently in kindergarten through college.  For families with non school-aged children we offer parent consultation services.

Are you seeing clients during the COVID-19 pandemic?

At this time we are conducting sessions both in the office or via teletherapy, based on the client’s preference.

Is teletherapy as effective as in-person therapy?

Yes.  Overall research supports that teletherapy is as effective as traditional face-to-face therapy for a range of circumstances.  We have observed that today’s tech-savvy children are especially comfortable interacting through online video sessions and appreciate not having to go to the “doctor’s office”.  We have adapted all of the materials normally used in-person for online use, and sessions follow the same format that we used in the office.

How long will it take?

The goal is to provide families with the skills needed to support your child or teen’s well-being in shortest amount of time possible.  Usually, sessions are held weekly to quickly build up the skillset.  As progress is made, the frequency of sessions is reduced until they are no longer necessary.  The actual length of time to reach that stage is unique to each individual.

Do you take insurance?

We do not participate in any insurance plans, but you may be able to receive reimbursement for out-of-network services.  More information about insurance options can be found here.
